About the event
ABOUT
Eight to Eat is an opportunity to share a meal with other people from First Baptist Church in a home without all the work. You are assigned to a group of others with the goal of getting to know people with whom you worship. Signing up is for just one time and involves providing a small portion of the meal. Child care is available.
HOSTING
Hosting is optional! It does not require a large or spotless home. If you need chairs, or even a table, they can be borrowed from the church. Serving the meal buffet style is fine. This is not about fancy china and gourmet food. It is about fun, food and fellowship. How can we be the family of God if we don’t get to know each other? Hosts take charge of the group of 8 that will meet in their home. Hosts pick the menu for their house, call others who were assigned to that location to assign what part of the meal each will bring. We are encouraging hosts to keep it simple; paper plates and simple food so the focus is on fellowship.
BUT I DON'T COOK...
Dillons or Walmart have plenty of ready to eat food that could be brought. Again, this is about getting to know the people with
whom we are going to spend eternity better and truly feeling like the family of God.
STRANGERS EATING TOGETHER
A little silence is OK. As we share food, we can simply talk about the food or the messages that we hear at church. If anyone would like to have some ice breaker questions to get the conversation flowing, the Eight to Eat Committee can certainly provide some. Ultimately it is a perfect place for us to just trust God to provide as we seek to become his family here on earth while we wait for eternity to begin.
