Pastor's Update 8/28/19

Hello!

On Friday, we will take Tyler to college. He will be attending Calvary University. They have asked him to play soccer (specifically goalie) because of his height. It's a new chapter for him. Shannon and I are excited to see what God has for him next.

Alex and Christina will finally start school next Wednesday at Life Prep Academy in Wichita. They are bored and ready to go back. We are ready for them to go back too!

Shannon had a birthday yesterday. The kids made her breakfast and Christina made her a cake. She spent the day shopping at JCPenny with a gift card that someone gave her for her birthday. She had a blast!

We are still collecting Candy Bars for teachers at Santa Fe. You can bring them this Sunday and drop them off at the Welcome Center in Fellowship Hall.

I know it's Labor Day weekend but if you're in town, I can't wait to see you on Sunday! I love being your Pastor.

Have a GREAT week!

Pastor's Update 8/21/19

Hello!

I just got off the phone with my parents. Today, they are celebrating 49 years of marriage. They had just finished horse back riding when I called.

When you are shopping this week, please pick up a few candy bars. We are collecting them to give to teachers at the Santa Fe school for their birthday's this year. You can bring them on Sunday and drop them off in Fellowship Hall at the Welcome Center.

Keep Michelle in prayer. She had two baby teeth pulled yesterday. She is a trooper but in some pain today.

Shannon has her first sub job of the year on Friday. It starts slow with teachers just getting back from the summer but will pick up soon. Her September is starting to get booked up already.

I can't wait to see you on Sunday at church! I love being your Pastor!

Have a GREAT week!

Pastor's Update 8/15/19

Hello!

As I am about to write this update, I hear voices talking outside of my office. Out of curiosity, I look out my window to see who it is. I notice a few of them. It is a group of teachers from Santa Fe walking to Back Alley Pizza for lunch. I pause and say a prayer for them, all teachers and administrators that work in Newton. I am so grateful for our community outreach team that will provide opportunities throughout this school year to bless the staff at the Santa Fe School. Be sure to bring in your candy bars these next few weeks so that we can give them to the staff on their birthdays.

I know that I don't say this enough but I am so grateful for those of you who lead ministries, lead small groups and serve in various ministries throughout our church. Developing a healthy church is a team effort and you are doing your part in moving God's church forward.

Nothing too crazy going on in our household. Tyler leaves in two weeks for college. Alex and Christina start at Life Prep after Labor Day. Michelle will be playing flag football and Nathan soccer. Our new cat, Sneezy, is under the weather. We will be taking her to the vet later today for some antibiotics and ointment.

I love being your Pastor! See you on Sunday!

Pastor's Update 8/01/19

Hello!

We will be heading back to Kansas tomorrow (18 hour drive)from visiting with my family in Pittsburgh, PA. We will be bringing Christina back with us. She had a great summer staying with Shannon's mom in New Jersey. Please pray for a safe trip. Tyler has been home this week holding down the fort.

Shannon will be substitute teaching this year. She loves the flexibility and desires to connect with more students. She will primarily sub for 5th-8th grade and some in high school.

Christina (10th grade) and Alex (7th grade) will be attending Life Prep Academy this year. Nathan and Michelle will still be attending schools in Newton.

That's all for now. I need to get things packed for our long trip tomorrow. I love being your Pastor!

See you on Sunday!

Pastor's Update 7/17/19

Hello,

I want to thank many of you for your prayers, calls, visits, texts and meals during this past week for me and my family. I am recovering nicely from Gallbladder surgery and have been back in the office this week. Not running yet but walking instead.

My son, Tyler, is counseling at Camp Good News in Hutchinson again this week. He loves it and does a fantastic job with the kids. We are very proud of him for sacrificing two weeks of paid work for volunteer work.

Shannon is almost finished painting our living room, dining room and kitchen. She is thorough and does a wonderful job. My job towards the end of the summer will be to paint the outside of the house.

If you or your small group would like to visit some parks during the remainder of the summer and pass out popsicles for free, let me know. We have plenty in our church freezer that are available to you. Be sure to wear your FBC shirt. If you don't have one, let me know. We have some in the church office.

I know many of you are traveling this summer but if you are in town this weekend, I look forward to seeing you in church on Sunday! I love being your Pastor!

Have a GREAT week!

Pastor's Update 7/11/19

Hello,

Some of you know that on Tuesday I had my gallbladder removed. The surgery went very well without any complications or issues. I am home now these next couple of days resting. I plan to be at church on Sunday preaching a message that I have titled...A follower and NOT a fan. I might be a little low key (if that's possible). I look forward to seeing you!

All of my kids, other than Christina, are at camp Good News this week. It is located just north of Hutchinson. They love it there and look forward to it every summer. We will pick them up tomorrow afternoon.

That's all I have for now. Thanks for the many prayers, texts and visits. I am so proud of our church. I love being your Pastor!

Have a GREAT week!

Pastor's Update 7/3/19

Hello,

I pray that your week is going well and that you have a great time tomorrow with friends and family celebrating American independence. We will probably stick around the house. Our  neighbors do a fantastic job each year putting on a fireworks display.

If your small group is interested in passing our free popsicles at local parks, please let me know and we will help make it happen.

Four of our kids will be heading off to Camp Good News this coming Monday in Hutch. Tyler will be a counselor and the three others will be campers. They really enjoy it. Serving as a camp counselor many years ago in Western, Pennsylvania is where I discerned my calling to be a Pastor. Some powerful things happen at Christian camps.

I am looking for a volunteer to take some pizzas and sodas to the Burrton Church this Saturday, July 6th. They will be serving at the Burrton festival all day and will be hungry around 6pm. Let me know if you are interested and I will give you more details.

I look forward to see you this Sunday at church. I love being your Pastor!

Have a GREAT week!

Pastor's Update 6/25/19

Hello,

I hope you are having a great week so far. Not too bad on my end. I am enjoying the weather and the break in thunderstorms. My dog, Lilly, has a difficult time with storms which means that Shannon or I have to stay up with her if they come during the night (which they typically do). She is a good dog though. She is a Golden Doodle and loves people! If you stop by our place, she will love all over you. Not sure how many more years we will have with her. She is already 13.

Don't forget to bring a desert or side to this Sunday's Fellowship Dinner. After the dinner, we will have our mid-year business meeting. Child care will be provided.

We are still collecting popsicles for our park popsicle giveaway. You can bring them on Sunday and take them to the freezer located in the kitchen. Thank you so much!!

How is your Bible reading coming along? Be sure to stick with it and make it what you do every day! Come up with a good plan and work it. I am reading through the Bible this year.

I can't wait to see you on Sunday! I love being your Pastor! Keep me updated and let me know if there is anything I can pray for.

Have a GREAT day!

Our next fellowship meal and mid-year business meeting will take place on Sunday, June 30th after the 2nd service. You can bring a side/dessert to share.

Pastor's Update 6/11/19

Hello!

I hope your week of prayer and fasting is off to a good start. Don't forget that prayer is the real work that moves God and impacts others. It will be tough and challenging but stay with it. I am so proud of you!

Nathan is away at Life Change Camp this week in Clinton, Missouri with his friend from church/school, Ellie. Pray that they grow closer to God more than ever before. Shannon and I will go and pick him on Friday. We can't wait to hear about all of the great things they did all week.

I had one spot become available for our 24 hours of prayer this Friday/Saturday. It is from 1pm until 2pm on Friday here at the church. You will be by yourself in the sanctuary praying for the list of requests at the back table. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! I love being your Pastor!

Have a GREAT week!
